Rugged Red Hosts Lone Oak
Lone Oak (District 8-3A, Div II) rolls into DubTown for a Thursday evening contest. Winnsboro (District 7-3A, Div I) enters with wins over Leonard 31-0 and White Oak 43-12 while the Buffaloes are looking for their first W of the young season. A 49-6 loss to Commerce in Week One was followed by a 28-27 loss to Scurry Rosser on September 4. Lone Oak took a 21-7 lead into the halftime locker but surrendered 21 second-half points leading to the loss.

District 7-3A, Div I Outlook
Winnsboro is off to a solid start after shutting out Leonard 31-0 in the August 28 season opener and then pushing back against White Oak in a 43-12 win in Week Two. The Red Raiders generated 517 yards of total offense versus the Roughnecks behind a powerful rushing attack and an impressive passing assault.
These non-district contests are insignificant in the overall picture but they are instrumental in refining the product that will be on the field come September 25 for the District 7 opener at Commerce.
Malakoff, Mt Vernon, and Eustace are each undefeated. Malakoff took a 42-14 win at Edgewood and a 51-29 victory over a strong Palestine Westwood team. Mt Vernon has wins against Paris North Lamar 32-18 and New Boston 43-16, while Eustace pegged Kemp 54-8 and Blooming
Grove 44-30.
Commerce is the unknown with a 1-1 record. The Tigers entered the season with top 10 rankings statewide by multiple outlets. They took care of business against Lone Oak 49-6 in the opener but were shocked 64-14 by Canton on Sept 4. Rains is also carrying a 1-1 record with a 69-12 loss to Dallas Life Oak Cliff and 63-14 win against Rice.
Mineola is looking for their first win after losses to Hooks 89-49 and New Diana 65-35. It looks like the Yellowjackets can score the points but their defense hasn’t helped them.
Week Three matchups include Winnsboro vs Lone Oak, Commerce vs Edgewood, Malakoff vs Grandview, Mt Vernon vs Blue Ridge, Mineola vs Sabine, Rains at Grand Saline, and Eustace at Rice.
