Malakoff has been one of the state’s most formidable opponents in the last decade, a run that includes a state championship in 2023 and a state runner up in 2024.
The Tigers are currently ranked in the top two by multiple ranking agencies followed by Winnsboro who is ranked in the top five. The teams are identical in point differential with Malakoff averaging 50 points per game while allowing 12, and Winnsboro averaging 48 ppg and allowing 10. Commerce has been a common opponent – Winnsboro took a 44-34 win on Sept 25 there and Malakoff won 35-22 on Oct 9, both games at Commerce.
Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has named this week’s game as the state’s No. 1 Friday night contest while other prognosticators have pegged it as game of the year.
Don’t miss the action – if you can be in the stands, be there. I wouldn’t count on any livestream on this one!
